Beili Liu was born and raised in China. She received her MFA from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 2003 and joined the faculty in the Department of Art and Art History at The University of Texas at Austin in 2008. Liu received a Distinction Award at the Kaunas Biennial, Lithuania, the Walter and Gina Ducloux Fellowship in 2011, and a University of Texas Regents’ Outstanding Teaching Award in 2012. Her work has been exhibited extensively both nationally and internationally.
