Sarah Canright received a BFA in painting at the Art Institute of Chicago. She was included in 1974 Whitney Biennial and had solo exhibitions at the Pam Adler Gallery and Franklin Furnace. In the course of her career, she has been awarded three National Endowment for the Arts grants and has held numerous teaching positions before coming to The University of Texas at Austin in 1982. Most recently, Canright had a solo exhibition at the CUE Art Foundation in New York.
