I started working for the University over 30 years ago as a Programmer Trainee in the Data Processing Division. My current title is “Principal Software Engineer”, but I don’t think that’s a very good description. I prefered my old title, “Senior Operating Systems Specialist”, but HR couldn’t match that to any industry-standard job title so they changed it. Anyway, I work in ITS Campus Solutions (another not-very-good name) and I prefer to describe what I do as “causing trouble.”
I retired from full-time work in January 2021. Since March 2021 I’ve been working part-time.
