Committee on Diversity & Equity (CODE)
The SOA Committee on Diversity + Equity seeks to foster greater diversity and equity within each program and the School as a whole. Current CODE Student Representatives are Brytani Cavil and Mary Stycos, as well as Research Assistant Raksha Vasudevan
National Organization of Minority Architecture Students (NOMAS)
The student chapter of the National Organization of Minority Architects, NOMAS strives to enhance education and professional networking as well as develop solutions to ensuring healthy living and working environments.
A student-led organization created to promote inclusion and diversity in the field of design. FDC’s mission is to empower marginalized groups and individuals by facilitating open discussions regarding power structures and gender roles within the field of design and the greater built environment.
University of Texas Division of Diversity and Community Engagement
The Division of Diversity and Community Engagement seeks to strengthen the university’s academic and engagement mission by fostering a culture of inclusion, excellence and social justice. Their site serves as a resource directory for various diversity focused initiatives, programs, and groups, related to or affiliated with UT.
Services For Students With Disabilities
Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) determines eligibility and helps arrange accommodations for students with disabilities at the University of Texas at Austin. They also engage in outreach across campus in order to make campus a more inclusive, accessible and welcoming environment for people with disabilities. For resource contacts click here
Multicultural Engagement Center
The MEC houses six student-run agencies, provides leadership development opportunities, presents peer-facilitated social justice and education trainings, offers a number of support services to student organizations, and hosts community outreach programs such as culturally relevant campus tours and student panels.
The mission of the Gender and Sexuality Center (GSC) is to provide opportunities for all members of the UT Austin community to explore, organize, and promote learning around issues of gender and sexuality. The center also facilitates a greater responsiveness to the needs of women and the LGBTQIA+ communities through education, outreach, and advocacy.

African and African Diaspora Studies
The African and African Diaspora Studies Department (AADS) is committed to interdisciplinary scholarship and creative production that explores questions of social justice for Black people around the globe. Center for Asian American Studies
The Center for Asian American Studies (CAAS) at The University of Texas at Austin is an interdisciplinary academic program promoting understanding and awareness of Asian American issues and communities. They also organize lectures, films, speaker series, discussion forums, and partner with community and campus organizations.
Department of Mexican American and Latina/o Studies
The mission of the UT Austin Department of Mexican American and Latina/o Studies is to create a new generation of scholars, practitioners, and activists to research and analyze the life, history, and culture of Mexican-origin and Latina/o (Central, Caribbean, and South American) populations within the state of Texas, the United States, and their diasporas.
Native American Indigenous Studies
NAIS fosters and supports teaching and intellectual engagements around the languages, cultures, knowledges, histories, and current political struggles of indigenous peoples. They are particularly concerned with scholarship and intellectual exchange that contributes to the economic, social, and political advancement of indigenous peoples.
Center for Women’s & Gender Studies
CWGS seeks to create committed communities that address the challenges faced in the areas of gender, sexuality, diversity, and equity. Faculty members support student research and advocacy in numerous fields, including African-American studies, cultural studies, diaspora studies, ethnic studies, and masculinities.
