The 2025 Embedded Scholars Application is now open for UT students to apply for Summer 2025 fellowships in democratic institutional development in the Balkans, Eurasia, and Latin America. Applications are due by December 1, 2024.
Selected students will participate in an innovative fellowship in Summer 2025 focused on democracy assistance and research. By combining applied work and research, the fellowship aims to launch students’ work in the field while advancing democratic development.
The program provides unparalleled opportunities for students to work with CID Gallup and the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance in Latin America and the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs in Eurasia and the Balkans. Students support a variety of ongoing democracy assistance programs and engage in original research.
The fellowship is open to all undergraduate and graduate students of any major at UT-Austin. We invite you to learn more about the program and the application process or download the Eurasia and Balkans 2025 Info Sheet and Latin America 2025 Info Sheet.
Prior fellows’ blogs are also a great source of information on the variety of projects and experiences fellows have in the field.
Join us for an information session on October 15, 2024 (12:30-1:30pm, BAT 5.108 or Zoom) or October 30, 2024 (12:30-1:30pm, Zoom). Program directors and prior fellows will share more about the program and fellows’ work in the field. Contact organizers for the Zoom link.
Contact program directors Zachary Elkins and Ashley Moran (copy both) if you have any questions about your eligibility or the program more broadly. We look forward to talking with you!
