Infrastructure Resilience Research / Applications Infrastructure Resilience — where we apply it When power grids fail, hurricanes strike, or transportation networks collapse, infrastructure systems must absorb disruptions, restore service quickly, and protect lives. INSPIRE Lab develops integrated transportation-energy strategies for blackout prevention, emergency response with electric vehicles, and resilient evacuation under extreme events. Problems We Tackle — three resilience challenges Problem 01 Cascading Failures Preventing blackouts and protecting power grids under contingencies and stressed conditions. Problem 02 Emergency Response Using electric vehicle fleets and reconfigurable grids to restore service after disruptions. Problem 03 Resilient Evacuation Supporting safe, large-scale evacuations during hurricanes, wildfires, and other extreme events.
