Biodiversity Collections (Texas Natural History Collections),
building LSF/PRC176 (campus mail R4000), 10100 Burnet Rd.
Austin, TX 78758-4445

Welcome!

We are based in, and curate and manage, one of four collections in UT’s Biodiversity Center.  Our research focuses primarily on improving our knowledge of the evolution, biology, ecology and conservation of the nearly 280 fish species known from Texas’ freshwaters and we use the collection’s specimens and the data associated with them in our research. We also do regional fieldwork to update the collection and its data, in ecological, evolutionary and conservation-relevant research.

Our collection and lab are located on the J.J. Pickle Research Campus (see location details here). To learn more about the Texas Natural History Collections visit our collections page.

The collage of illustrations (© Joe Tomelleri) above includes some of our favorite Texas species. Find more about all of them in our Fishes of Texas project, and more about us and our work in other tabs here.
