The Study Abroad Office is Hiring Peer Mentors & Student Assistants

Have you recently returned from a study abroad program? Are you interested in sharing your experience?  Do you want to help other students achieve their study abroad goals?

Well then, we have the perfect opportunity for you: join the Study Abroad Office as a study abroad peer advisor or a student assistant!

1.   Study Abroad Peer Advisor (multiple positions available)
The UT Study Abroad Office is creating a new program — the Study Abroad Mentor Program (StAMP).  We want future study abroad students to hear and learn about the general process, what to expect, how to prepare and how amazing the experience can be from their greatest resource — their peers who have studied abroad!

Peer Advisor duties include, but are not limited to, general student advising, management of social media networks, outreach and recruitment on campus.  Please see the attached position description for further details.

Since this program is new, we are looking for students who are dedicated to helping us pave the road to a successful program from the ground up.  As with other positions on campus, becoming a Peer Advisor is a great resume booster, a great way to increase student leadership and professional work experience, and an ideal opportunity for those considering a career in international education.

2.   Student Assistant (2 positions available, Work Study required)
The Study Abroad Office is also hiring two student assistants to provide administrative assistance to the Faculty-Led Program Development Team.  If you’re interested in learning about how study abroad works behind-the-scenes, this could be the job for you! More information is provided in the attached job description.

How to apply
The application is attached to this message and must be submitted to the Study Abroad Office no later than 5 p.m. on Monday, July 19, 2010. All applicants will be notified via email when final decisions are made.

If you have any questions, please email me at studyabroadoffice@austin.utexas.edu.

We hope you are as excited as we are about helping other students have the wonderful experiences abroad that you’ve enjoyed!
