Volunteer Opportunity on Campus

This year’s theme for Liberal Arts Week is “The Past, Present and
Future of the College of Liberal Arts”. The Liberal Arts Council will
be hosting a different event each day to highlight the past, present
and future of COLA. This year, we are kicking off Liberal Arts Week by
bringing in 200 6th and 7th grade students from KIPP Austin College
Prep as the “future” of the College of Liberal Arts. KIPP serves
historically under served populations of students and focuses on high
school graduation, college and creating a rigorous academic
environment for under served students. We will be giving a
presentation on the history of many of the statues around campus and
taking them on an interactive tour and scavenger hunt to some of our
most historical and diverse landmarks.

The Liberal Arts Council seeks to find approximately 20 volunteers to
help out by visiting with students while they eat lunch in the South
Mall and during the tour between 12:00-2:00pm on Monday 9/20. Please
contact Shelby Carvalho at shelbyfc@gmail.com by Friday 9/17 at 10:00pm if
you are interested in volunteering!
