i3 iSchool Inclusion Institute

The i3 iSchool Inclusion Institute is a program created to increase student diversity in all graduate programs at Information Schools and to encourage those students to consider academic and professional careers within the Information Sciences.

·       This program is for rising Juniors (students apply during the fall of their sophomore year) of any major

·       Minimum GPA is 2.5

·       Students must be available to travel to Pittsburgh during the month of June, 2011

·       The application deadline is January 14, 2011

·       Students must demonstrate a commitment to increasing opportunities for underrepresented minorities

Selected students will get to participate in a 4-week institute at the University of Pittsburgh in PA totally free of charge.  All costs are covered (travel, housing and dining).  Students will also receive a stipend of $50/day for their attendance.  (see attached document and website for more details)

There are many career opportunities in the Information Sciences field and I can tell you that the Master of Science in Information Studies that we offer here at UT drastically increases the marketability of students who enter our program with all kinds of undergraduate majors.
