Event for UT Honors Students, plus book giveaway

Karen Russell, author of Swamplandia! and St. Lucy’s Home for Girls Raised by Wolves, will give a guest lecture in the Joynes Reading Room (CRD 007) on the UT Austin campus at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 27th. This event will be free and open to the public, with Q&A, light refreshments and a book signing to follow. Russell was a 2012 Pulitzer Prize finalist for fiction, and is one of the 20 writers under 40 featured by the New Yorker magazine. Honors students who are certain they will attend the the reading may request a free copy of a Karen Russell book. Credit By Exam for ARA, HEB, PRS and TUR

The Department of Middle Eastern Studies will be offering a Credit-By-Exam for Arabic, Hebrew, Persian and Turkish this fall.

Time:  2:00 – 5:00 PM

Location: BUR 112

If you wish to try and get credit for one of these languages, please encourage them to visit the MES website to sign up at http://www.utexas.edu/cola/depts/mes/languages/testing.php.

In addition to signing up online, students must register for the test, pay fees and bring a form with them to the exam. For more information on CBEs (the rules, forms, fees, procedures), you can have students visit the Center for Teaching and Learning site at http://ctl.utexas.edu/.

Diversity at Goldman Sachs: Networking Breakfast

This event is open to all students at UT and is one part of Goldman Sachs’ campus recruiting presence next week. If you are interested in investment banking, this could be a great way for you to get started networking with professionals in the field.

LAH Prayer Group

LAH Prayer meets every Thursday at 5:00pm to pray for our group as well as other students and faculty at UT. It is a great way to meet other Christians in LAH and be in a community.
