Liberal Arts Honors Service Organization Tonight!

Hello everyone! My name is Alex Gaudio and I am the President of LAHSO

(the Liberal Arts Honors Service Organization) this year. We are a

service group within LAH that volunteers in the Austin community as a

group about once a month. I would like to invite everyone to our first

meeting which is tonight  at 7:00 in Mezes 1.104. We will be

discussing service opportunities for the upcoming year and I would like

to include as many people as possible in these discussions. If you can’t

make the meeting but want to be involved, make sure you email me at

gaudio.alex@gmail.com so that I can keep you up to date on all of LAHSO’s

activities.

Participate in Student Government

My name is Christle Nwora and I am Student Government’s Longhorn Legislative Aide Director. First and foremost, congratulations on your acceptance to the Forty Acres and the LAH program! Student Government is looking to increase freshmen involvement, and we have multiple ways to be involved as a first year:

– Longhorn Legislative Aides: learn fundamental leadership skills by working closely with the executive board of SG andHoracioUgeo2013, gain a clear understanding of important campus-wide issues, help write key pieces of legislation, and make lifelong friendships. – Longhorn Run Committee:  The Longhorn Run, set for April 12, 2014, is a 2-mile and 10K run produced from the combined efforts of UT Student Government, UT RecSports, Nike, and Luke’s Locker. Approaching its fourth year, the Longhorn Run has become an annual event on campus that thousands of students, alumni, family members and Austin community members have learned to place on their calendar early and sign up for one of our training groups.

Liberal Arts Pre Med Society

Liberal Arts Pre-med Society is having an info session next Tuesday September 10th in GEA 127 at 7:30 pm. This will be for new members to learn about LAPMS and ask questions about the Pre-med process.

The following Tuesday (Sept. 17th) after that will be our first general meeting at the same place and same time. We will go over upcoming volunteering and social events. Also we will be hosting Dr. Anthony Sutton as our first guest speaker. He works with admissions at UT School of Medicine in Houston and is the founder of MDI Initiative. If anyone wants to be added to our mailing list they can email utlapms@gmail.com.

Foot in the Door Auditions Wednesday and Thursday

LAH’s theatre troupe, Foot in the Door theatre, is holding auditions this Wednesday and Thursday, September 4th and 5th, for their fall 2013 season.

Auditions will be held in Calhoun 100 from 7-10 pm. Only one night of auditions is required to be considered. They will consist of cold readings from the plays.

Hedda Gabler by Henrik Ibsen

Bash by Neil LaBute

Goodnight Desdemona by Ann-Marie MacDonald
