My name is Josh Gold, and I am contacting you on behalf of Texas Cowboys. Texas Cowboys is an honorary men’s service organization founded in 1922 with the purpose of serving the University of Texas and the City of Austin. We are primarily a service organization, and although we are best known for firing Smokey the Cannon at the home football games, we have maintained a partnership with the ARC of the Capital Area since 1954. Each fall, we throw Harvest Moon, a benefit concert to raise money for the ARC. In addition to our work with the ARC, we serve the University and other organizations around Austin, completing over 1500 service hours each semester.
This semester, I have privilege of serving as Selection Chairman for Texas Cowboys, and that is why I am contacting you today. Each semester, we open up applications to all male members of the University that have completed at least 3 semesters at UT and have over a 2.5 GPA. If you or anyone you know is interested, I strongly encourage you to come out to an info session at 4:30 PM on Wednesday, September 18 in the Legends Room of the Etter- Harbin Alumni Center. The application is posted on our website, www.texascowboys.org, along with more information about the organization and its history. Please, feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.
Hook ‘Em,
Joshua Gold
