Junior Fellows Extended Deadline

Dr. Carver is extending the deadline to apply to the Junior Fellows Program 2014 – 2015 to April 3rd.  So if you are a rising Senior doing research (not limited to an Honors Thesis), please consider applying:

McNair Scholars Information Session

McNair Scholars Information Session – March 27th @ 4 PM in SSB 4.212

Attend an information session about the Ronald E. McNair Scholars Program at The University of Texas at Austin, which is currently recruiting new students for next fall (Fall 2014). The McNair Scholars Program is a federally funded program under the Division of Diversity and Community Engagement with the goal of increasing the number of students earning doctoral degrees who are both low-income and first-generation and/or traditionally underrepresented in graduate education.

The information session will take place on Thursday, March 27th from 4-5 PM in the Student Services Building (SSB 4.212).

This will be the last information sessions prior of the spring semester. Applications are currently available on our website, www.utmcnairscholars.org. The application deadline is Friday, April 4th @ 5 PM.

Honors Colloquium Student Mentor Application Deadline Approaching

The University Honors Center invites UT Austin students (including those who are graduating this May) to apply for a position as an Honors Colloquium student mentor for the 33rd annual Honors Colloquium, July 23-26, 2014.

The Honors Colloquium is a three-day event that takes place on The University of Texas at Austin campus and is designed to introduce rising high school seniors to life at the university while encouraging them to apply to UT and its honors programs.

Student mentors are a critical component of the Honors Colloquium. They interact with participants, serve as RAs, and provide support for Honors Colloquium programs and activities.

Students interested in being an education major may choose to teach in elementary school or decide to take their major in a different direction. Get ideas about what careers might appeal to education majors and learn about how to make yourself marketable. Co-sponsored by the College of Education and the Vick Center.

Who we are

The Undergraduate Awards acknowledges excellence in undergraduate academia across all disciplines.

How it works

Students can submit their coursework online, making sure their name and university is not included in the document. We gather a panel of academics in each field to anonymously assess the work. They select the top 10% in each category, and from that the winner.

Why should I submit?

As a winner you will receive an exclusive invitation to the 2014 UA Global Summit  in Dublin, Ireland, your work is published in our academic journal and you are recognised as the top student in your field. Shortlisted students are also recognised for their excellence, which can be a significant catalyst when pursuing further studies or your chosen career.

What now?

If you’d like to submit your work then you have until June 2nd to do so. However places fill up fast so we recommend registering NOW to save your place.

Academic Improvement Scholarship

Deadline: Friday, March 28 at 5 p.m.

Description: The Academic Improvement Scholarship is designed to reward students who show significant improvement in academics despite performing poorly in previous academic years. Find the application here.

Amount: Senate is proud to offer two $500 scholarships to two qualifying students each semester

Eligibility: To qualify for the scholarship, students must have had a GPA below 2.75 at least two semesters ago and have since improved their GPA from that former GPA. Applicants must have made significant improvements to their GPA and taken steps to to ensure they retain this academic success. Applicants may apply for the Academic Improvement Scholarship as many times as they wish, but once an individual has been awarded the scholarship, he/she may not be awarded the scholarship a second time.
