Become an Orientation Advisor

Apply to become an orientation advisor and help us with incoming LAHers and other UT students this summer!

Top 10 College Women Competition

Glamour magazine would like to invite you to apply for our Top 10 College Women Competition. We’re looking for dynamic young women with leadership experience, academic excellence and inspiring goals. Winners receive a $5,000 cash prize, recognition in Glamour and a trip to New York City for an awards luncheon.


Any woman who is currently a full-time junior at an accredited college or university in the United States or Canada for the 2010—2011 academic year is eligible to enter.

LBJ School GRE Prep Sessions

On Saturday, October 9, 2010 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. the LBJ School will host a workshop for anyone who has ever considered applying to graduate school, in particularly, the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs.

The full-day event will include a FREE INTRODUCTION COURSE to the GRE organized by Princeton Review and an “all you ever wanted to know about LBJ” discussion. Complimentary breakfast & lunch with vegetarian options will be provided.   All participants will receive a GRE Workbook from Princeton Review. A second workshop is scheduled for November 6, 2010.


Seating is capped at the first 60 applicants, who must RSVP at greworkshoprsvp@gmail.com. Questions may be directed here as well.

Fulbright Scholars Information Session

The Study Abroad Office is sponsoring a general information session for Juniors, Seniors, Graduate Students, and Alumni who are interested in applying to the U.S. Fulbright Scholars Program for 2012-2013.

Vijay Renganathan, Senior Program Officer for Fulbright Student Outreach from the Fulbright offices in New York will be on campus to facilitate.

Humanities Major Info Sessions

Would you like to create your own major?

The Humanities major allows you to design your own
interdisciplinary plan of study around a research interest.

As part of the Humanities major, you will:
• Join a close-knit community in Liberal Arts Honors
• Receive individualized advising
• Work closely with faculty members
• Write an honors thesis

The Humanities major is by application only and requires
30 hours in residence and a 3.5 gpa. Details online:

If you would you like to spend a fall or spring semester in Washington, D.C. involved in an internship and taking in-residence UT Austin classes, please see http://www.utexas.edu/ugs/utindc and then come to one of the information sessions to find out more. The UT Austin campus coordinator and former Archer Fellows will give an overview of the program and provide you with tips on submitting a competitive application.

The cost for 15 hours is $3,600 for all in-state, out-of-state, and international participants, a savings of at least $900 (or more, depending on your major and your residency status) on your current flat-rate tuition and fees.

Undergrads from all majors are encouraged to apply.

The application deadline for Fall 2011 and Spring 2012 will be in February 2011.

Scholarship Opportunities in the College of Liberal Arts-Apply by October 15

Liberal Arts Competitive Scholarships

Purpose of Award
For students in the College of Liberal Arts with a UT Austin GPA between 3.25 and 3.69.

Eligibility Criteria
GPA: 3.25 – 3.69
30 hours in residence at UT at time of application.

Award amounts from $1,000 – $2,000.

Liberal Arts UG Research Awards

Purpose of Award
To support undergraduate student research.
To enable students to attend conferences pertaining to their field of study.

Award amounts: up to $1,000.00 will be awarded for fall 2010 or spring, 2011.

Eligibility Criteria
Student must have declared a Liberal Arts major
GPA of at least 3.2 at time of application

Liberal Arts Study Abroad Scholarships for Exchange Programs

Purpose of Award
For students in the College of Liberal Arts planning on going on an Exchange Study Abroad Program. Number of awards vary in each semester.

Eligibility Criteria
Undergraduate student currently enrolled in Liberal Arts with at least one semester completed in the College.
Completion of a minimum of 15 hours of coursework in residence, through the Summer 2010 semester (at time of application).
UT-Austin GPA of at least 3.0.
One letter of recommendation from a UT faculty member.
Award amounts: $1,000 – $2,000
