COLA Academic Excellence Award

The College of Liberal Arts Academic Excellence Award is an academic merit and financial need-based scholarship competition for currently enrolled Liberal Arts undergraduate majors. Applicants who are selected to receive the award will be matched with one of COLA’s many endowed scholarships and excellence funds. The competition is run each spring semester, and applications are reviewed and ranked by a faculty committee in the College of Liberal Arts.

Scholarship Information:

  • Amount of awards: $2,000 – $5,000
  • Multiple awards are made each year.
  • Applications can be accessed via LASSO

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Only currently enrolled Liberal Arts undergraduates at The University of Texas at Austin may apply.
  • Applicants must have a minimum overall in-residence UT GPA of 3.6 and 12 hours completed in-residence.
  • Applicants must demonstrate evidence of achievement in leadership and service to the College and community.

LAH Study Abroad Scholarships

The Liberal Arts Honors Program will award scholarships in varying amounts to support LAH students and Humanities majors who will be studying abroad in the Spring, Summer, and/or Fall.  An LAH student may apply for this scholarship by writing a one-page statement of his or her study abroad plans. The statement should include where and what the student will be studying, the projected cost involved, and the role that study abroad and the mastery of a foreign language plays in the student’s academic and career goals.

The deadline for Fall/Summer Abroad is April 1st, 11:59 pm. Maymesters may also apply in Spring, as long as they are able to confirm participation.

Both LAH students and Humanities majors are eligible to apply for the LAH Study Abroad scholarship. Please contact the LAH office with any questions.

Fall 2025 Education Abroad Scholarships

The following scholarship applications for Fall 2025 are live and accepting applications on LASSO. Please visit their respective links to find more information regarding eligibility, the application process, and more!

The deadline to apply for each of these awards is April 1st, 11:59PM on LASSO. We will also host our Education Abroad Fall 2025 Scholarship Presentation on February 20, 2025, at 1 pm. Students can register for the event on Qualtrics (linked here). The presentation will be recorded and emailed to everyone who RSVPed.

UT Co-op Mitchell Award

Each spring, with the generous support of the University Co-op, UT recognizes undergraduate students for superior scholarly or creative achievement. Four will receive awards of $5,000, and two students will receive the top award of $7,000.

The application and all supporting materials, including a faculty recommendation, must be received by Wednesday, March 26th.

Applicants must be either a junior or senior currently enrolled at UT or a UT graduate who received their undergraduate degree in December 2024. Students must demonstrate superior scholarly or creative achievement through a notable paper or thesis, research project, creative or artistic endeavor, or other product of their academic work. Submitted work should be finished or almost finished (e.g. a complete draft of a thesis or research paper). Previous Mitchell Award recipients are eligible only if the submitted work is a completely different project.

Tyler Fellowships

The Office of Undergraduate Research is accepting applications for 2025 Tyler Fellows at The University of Texas at Austin. Six Tyler Fellows will be awarded between $3,000 and $3,500 each to support independent research abroad during spring or summer 2025. Funding for these awards is provided by the Tyler Center for Global Studies. Applications are due 11:59 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3, 2025.

Brodnax Recreation Fund

The Brodnax Recreation Fund is focused on expanding access to RecSports for students who may face financial barriers to participating in programs.

We are currently accepting applications for spring 2025 funding with a priority application deadline of Friday, Dec. 20. Students can apply to have any one of the following programs fully funded for next term:

  • TeXercise All-Access Pass
  • Climbing Wall Pass
  • Intramural Sports Team Entry
  • Day or Weekend Adventure Trip Registration

Killam Fellowship Program

The Killam Fellowships Program application for awards for the 2025-26 academic year is now open! The UT application deadline is December 13th, 2024.

The Program provides a funded opportunity for exceptional undergraduate students to spend either a semester or a full academic year as an exchange student in Canada at one of 18 participating partner institutions. Applicants will list their top choices of institutions which vary in location, size, language immersion, and academic offerings leaving flexibility to find a school that meets their personal and academic needs.
