Undergraduate Certificate in Security Studies
Register now for the Clements Center’s new Undergraduate Certificate in Security Studies
The Clements Center would like to invite all College of Liberal Arts undergraduate students to register for our new Undergraduate Certificate in Security Studies.
The Undergraduate Certificate in Security Studies recognizes students who focus their studies on international and national security affairs. Through the transcript-recognized certificate, students develop an interdisciplinary expertise and professional experience in security studies. Students must take GOV 360N International Security and GOV 362L Government Research Internship, as well as 15 additional hours from a selection of approved courses.
Interested students should complete the registration form in order to signal their intent to complete the Certificate program. A member of the Clements Center staff will reach out to schedule a brief advising session.

Study Abroad First Generation in College Scholarship
This scholarship supports student planning to study abroad beginning fall 2017 and beyond. Note, the scholarship is not for maymester or summer 2017.

LAHSC Fall Scholarship
LAHSC is excited to announce a new fall scholarship. The Carver Civic Engagement Scholarship is available to LAH students who have taken LAH 103H. It rewards students for giving back to their community. The winning student will be awarded $250. Additionally, $250 will be donated in their name to a social good organization of their choice. The scholarship is now open and is due at 11:59 pm on Tuesday, November 29.

Student worker position open in the Student Divison
A few positions for student workers have opened up in the Student Divison of CoLA (in Gebauer) . These students work with everyone in Liberal Arts, dropping classes, changing majors, making appointments with advisors, and passing on policies to students and parents. Taco’bout Research – LAUNCH Relaunch
Are you interested in research, but don’t know what resources are available or which professors to talk to? On Thursday, November 10th from 1-3pm in the CLA’s Glickman Center, students will be able to meet professors pursuing research in Liberal Arts and learn how to get involved in undergraduate research at UT! This year, Liberal Arts Council will be unveiling LAUNCH, the Liberal Arts Undergraduate Chapter for Research, an organization that promotes research in the College of Liberal Arts. We would like to encourage all Liberal Arts students to learn more about how to get involved with future LAUNCH events! Also, free tacos from Taco Shack will be provided during this event.
The event will begin with a keynote speech from Dean Musick, Liberal Arts Associate Dean for Student Affairs, who will speak about the importance of undergraduate research. We will then break into 20-minute small groups during which students will be allowed to discuss research directly with the professors. The food will be served at 12:45.

A confirmation email will be sent before the event to notify students of their time slots.

Voting is the central feature of democracy. It’s how we choose our leaders. It’s how we set the national agenda. Some say it’s our civic duty. But does it really matter?
Join us on the eve of the 2016 election as Professor Brian Roberts and Professor Bethany Albertson debate whether or not you should turn out to the polls the next day. You’ll hear two very different views of this central feature of our system of government and even have a chance to join the conversation through questions or as a subsequent speaker.
