LAHers, I am looking for an energetic, dependable individual with a safe/dependable car a to pick up my daughter, Julia, from school  (M-F) in the fall and hopefully in the spring  too.  Some days may require staying with her an hour or so to help her stay on task for home-work.  Making math fun would be a bonus.
There is another mother who would like her son to be picked up as well (they live two houses down). It would only require dropping him off.

We are in Central Austin and Julia and Roan will attend Lamar Middle School off of Burnet Road and 2222. The school is 2 miles from the house, so it’s just a bit too far for them to walk home everyday. Pick up at 3:30. Have you ever thought you’d be good at helping other students with writing projects? If the answer is “yes”, apply to become a Course Specialist Consultant at the University Writing Center.

Course Specialist Consultants will be trained by the University Writing Center and assigned to a particular undergraduate class in their discipline. They will attend the class with enrolled students, develop an insider’s understanding of the course and the professor’s expectations, and conduct 45-minute consultations about writing in the University Writing Center. Students from the assigned class will have priority registration for consultations with their class’s consultant until the end of the term.

Course Specialist Consultants will earn $12/hour. They will be paid for 10 hours per week plus 35 hours of mandatory training (scheduled for 8/17/15-8/21/15).

1) a letter of interest that explains why you wish to work as a Course Specialist Consultant

2) a writing sample (3-5 pages) that you wrote for an academic course (preferably a course in your major area or a closely related discipline)

3) a brief reference (a few sentences will do) from a professor who is familiar with your writing ability

The Office of Sustainability seeks an undergraduate or graduate student associate to manage their communications and outreach efforts for the 2015-2016 academic year. Students with an interest in sustainability, experience managing professional social media efforts, and developing communications plans are preferred.  Successful applicants will be professional, pay high attention to detail, and collaborate reliably in a team-based setting.

Responsibilities:

•             Manage the Office of Sustainability’s social media efforts: Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and YouTube Channel

•             Write content for and manage the Office of Sustainability’s newsletter

•             Collaborate closely with staff to develop and carry out a communications plan for the fall, spring, and summer semesters

•             Promote special events such as the Sustainability Symposium, America Recycles Day, Earth Week, and Campus Sustainability Day, among others

•             Maintain the Office of Sustainability’s media outlet list

•             Other media and communications duties as required

TEXAS CIVIL RIGHTS PROJECT

TCRP seeks an individual with initiative, creativity, and commitment to grassroots community building to support legal work for immigrant victims of domestic violence.  Start date in mid-May. This position is part time (20-30 hours a week).

Primary Duties: assist in administrative capacity in helping file applications under the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA); maintain client communication; recruit and manage volunteers; assist in maintaining client database and templates; assist in compiling and analyzing grant reports; compile and maintain resource library; manage basic IT support; maintain and organize closed files; order and maintain office supplies.

Qualifications: must be fluent in Spanish and English (written and spoken); typing and computer skills required; ability to plan and meet annual targets required; ability to work in fast-paced environment; strong organization skills.
