The Gilman Scholarship is a generous federal scholarship for study abroad and a great opportunity for U.S. citizens receiving a Federal Pell Grant to fund their international experience. UT Austin is consistently a top producer of Gilman Scholars.
Education Abroad is hosting two virtual information sessions to help students prepare a competitive application. During the information sessions, we will cover scholarship details, selection criteria, and tips for submitting a competitive application. We will also host an in-person writing workshop for essay review.

The online application is now open for applicants whose in-person programs or internships start between December 1, 2024, to October 31, 2025. This cycle encompasses Winter or January term 2025, Spring 2025, May term 2025, Summer 2025, Fall 2025, and academic year 2025-2026 abroad programs. We are BBAM, a program centered around Black and Brown academic mentorship. We are a non-profit organization based at The University of Texas at Austin that has been providing mentorship since August of 2021. Our goal is to connect minority high school students to a college mentor who has a similar background and can help guide them through their high school journey and college application process.
Our mentors are also top students at UT Austin, many being featured in the Dean’s List, Honors Programs, and the Distinguished Scholar List. We accept mentors from all majors in order to cater to the interest of a variety of students.

UT Psychology is holding its first faculty-led study-abroad program! Dr. Franco Pestilli will take students to Geneva, Switzerland for a May term in 2025. The course is PSY 355N, cognitive neuroscience.
Dr. Pestilli has incorporated many visits to famous places in the Geneva area, as well as several guest speakers, so experiential learning will be a key part of this program.

Applications are now being accepted for the Fall 2024 Undergraduate Research Fellowships, which provide up to $1,000 to support expenses for independent research or creative activity in any major. Awards are made in the Fall and Spring through the Office of Undergraduate Research. Submit your URF application by the 11:59 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30th deadline.

Texas Mock Trial has been the university’s official undergraduate Mock Trial team since 1991 and is one of the most competitive programs in the country.
