Marion Friske, PhD, received the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) R13 ISBRA Conference Support Award.

2025

Marion Friske, PhD, received the O’Neill Addiction Science Education Award from the Texas Research Society on Alcoholism (TRSA) for her outreach program Mindful Sips, a community program aimed at prevention of Alcohol Use Disorder among young adults. She also received the SHIFTovation Fund Award from the University of Texas at Austin in support of Mindful Sips, the NIAAA Junior Investigator Meeting Award, and the Best Oral Presentation Award at the Behavior, Biology and Chemistry: Translational Research in Substance Use Disorders Conference.

2024

Marion Friske, PhD, received the Domino Professional Development Award from the University of Texas at Austin and the Early Career Investigator Award from the International Society for Biomedical Research on Alcoholism (ISBRA).

Dr. Dayne Mayfield was invited by the Secretary of Health and Human Services to serve a 3 year term on the National Advisory Council on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism. The Council will advise and make recommendations to the Secretary of Health and Human Services and the Director of the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) on the policies and activities carried out by the NIAAA.
