New NIH RO1 Project: Smartphone-Based Solutions for Prospective Memory in Mild Cognitive Impairment and Dementia

We are excited to share the New RO1 that our Mulva Faculty Jared Benge was awarded.

The project focusses on Mild Cognitive Impairment and Dementia.

Difficulties with prospective memory, such as remembering to take medications, represent a signature decline in mild dementia, worsen quality of life and independence, and add burden to care partners. In this randomized controlled trial, individuals with mild cognitive impairment and mild dementia will train to use either a smartphone-based or paper-based memory strategy to compensate for daily prospective memory challenges.

This work will help preserve independent functioning in persons with cognitive impairment and reduce burden on families impacted by dementia.
