Kumar Awarded Pilot Grant to Study Pediatric Brain Tumors

A collaborative proposal from Kevin Kumar, MD, PhD, assistant professor of neurosurgery, and Qian Yin, PhD, assistant professor of biomedical engineering at The University of Texas at Austin, was recently selected for funding through Texas Biologics and Dell Medical School’s Health Transformation Research Institute. These initiatives connect physician-scientists with UT researchers to uncover mechanisms of disease and more through transdisciplinary research.

The 18-month pilot award will advance Kumar’s and Yin’s work to develop biologically informed, translational approaches to pediatric brain tumors. “The funding will help generate preliminary data, strengthen future grant applications, and advance therapeutic strategies with the potential to improve outcomes for children and families,” said Kumar.
