Hopefully by now you’ve heard about the UT System deal with Cambridge University Press (CUP). This Read & Publish deal gives the UT community read access to all CUP journals, and also includes unlimited OA publishing for our authors.
What does this mean for you as a UT Austin researcher, faculty, or student? It means if you are a corresponding author on a publication in a CUP journal, you can publish that article open access without needing to pay any fees. Those fees, called article processing charges or APCs, are included in our agreement which is in effect from January 2021 through December 2023.
You may be a bit unsure of how this all works, and CUP has helpfully pulled together a page with details about our agreement, including step by step instructions for how you can publish under this deal. Cambridge has also shared a presentation, Guide to Paying an APC, that gets into a bit more detail about the article publishing process. It’s meant mainly for authors who will be paying at least a portion of their own APC, so please be aware that not everything in there will apply to you, but it does include screenshots that may be helpful.
You can also review our other OA memberships, and find contact information for further questions on our Open Access Memberships LibGuide.
