University of Texas at Austin PhD candidate, Mohammad Afzal Shadab, shares a two minute video about how financial barriers, specifically OA publishing fees, negatively affect open science in developing countries. The video was developed for the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) open science listening sessions scheduled for May and June of this year. While the remarks were tailored for the OSTP, they speak broadly to some of the problems of an open science system built on for-profit business models.
