Karla Robles-Lopez, M.D., PhD, MSc

Dr. Robles-Lopez is a medic and a researcher. She studied medicine at La Salle University (Mexico City, Mexico) and specialized in Medical Genetics (UNAM, Mexico City, Mexico), obtaining her license as a geneticist. She gained over 12 years of clinical experience, training with fellow students and colleagues, learning from senior colleagues, and focusing on producing excellent patient outcomes. She also worked as a doctor for several years at a private genetics laboratory and for the National Secretariat in Mexico City. She obtained her MSc in Molecular Medicine (Cancer) and PhD in neuroscience from the University of Sheffield, UK.

Dr. Robles-Lopez has broad experience in genetics, neurology, and cancer Research. She was the project leader and designer for a genetics laboratory in Mexico before working as a postdoctoral researcher for Baylor College of Medicine and Dell Pediatric Research Institute at UT Austin.

Her commitment as a Research Associate at UT Austin, is to become part of the leading group that helps PIs and researchers in their journey to discovering the basics behind the pathological events leading to the disease state and how they are related to other disorders.

Dr. Robles-Lopez knows how important it is to identify those key areas that will allow the scientific community to study and fully understand the different factors affecting medical care and their impact on patients and families. Her acquired knowledge has been applied to improving disease management and treatments as well as promoting preventive medicine.

Dr. Robles-Lopez identifies and improves these areas in her current role as research associate at Dell Med.
