Melanie Montoya, BA

Melanie Montoya is a Clinical Research Associate with the UT Health Austin Pediatric Neurosciences at Dell Children’s Medical Center. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from The University of Texas at Austin, where she completed an honors thesis examining preoperative anxiety as a predictor of postoperative pain and functional outcomes in pediatric patients.

During her undergraduate studies, Melanie contributed to research in both the Fonzo Lab at Dell Medical School and the Laboratory for the Study of Anxiety Disorders. She supported studies focused on developing novel treatments for trauma-related psychiatric conditions, which deepened her interest in clinical research and mental health.

Before joining Dell Children’s, Melanie was a Research Coordinator in UT Austin’s Department of Psychology, where she managed clinical studies in collaboration with the TRACK-TBI network. Her work involved enrolling trauma patients at Dell Seton Medical Center to improve the classification, diagnosis, and treatment of traumatic brain injuries.

Melanie is passionate about developing innovative diagnostic tools and treatment for neurological conditions, and enhancing access to care for Spanish-speaking children and families. Outside of her research work, Melanie volunteers at the Center for Child Protection.
