Pre-Award
Complete these forms before you submit a grant:
- Sponsored Projects | Proposal Notification (Office of Sponsored Projects/OSP)
This for contains basic information indicating an intent to submit a grant, including: NIH, federal, state, and foundation grants, or other applications to research funding announcements. A PI or Co-PI is NOT authorized to submit a proposal directly to a sponsor without OSP approval, accept an award on behalf of the University, or sign contracts/agreements on behalf of the University. Any negotiations associated with an award must be conducted by the Office of Sponsored Projects (OSP). Completing this form allows the investigator to seek approval from the OSP for grant submission.
Intent to conduct a clinical trial does NOT require completion of the Sponsored Projects | Proposal Notification. - Proposal Routing & Intake Form
Once you have submitted the Sponsored Projects form above, your administration constituent in the OSP will also need a completed Proposal Routing & Intake Form. This form, once completed and sent to your administration constituent, will be routed for signature by your division/departmental head.
If you are employed in a non-tenure track position and/or are looking to lead a DMS-sponsored project for the first time, please contact your constituency lead. More information on PI status at UT can be found here. - PI Exemption Request
If you have PI status in UT Research Management Suite (RMS), disregard this step.
If you do not have PI status in UT RMS, you will need to complete this request.
The departmental approval form is required for each submission 7 business days in advance of the sponsor deadline for grant submission. (Log in with your usual UT EID information and select “Request PI Status Exception”.)
Post-Award
If you receive a grant:
- Contact your administration constituent to initiate OSP and DMS-sponsored projects processes.
- Contact the OPeN research support team to submit to the IRB and SAT, and to coordinate other needed regulatory and research conduct activities.
