January 28, 2021, Filed Under: NewsBosques Named Chief of Pediatric PM&R We are pleased to introduce Dr. Glendaliz Bosques, our new Chief of Pediatric Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) in the Pediatric Neuroscience Program. Dr. Bosques is a native of Puerto Rico and received her MD degree with honors from the University of Puerto Rico. She then completed residency training in PM&R in Houston at the combined Baylor/ UT Health Science Center program and a fellowship in pediatric PM&R at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. Before moving to Dell Medical School, Dr. Bosques served as Chief of Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine at the Memorial Hermann Hospital and the Shriners’ Hospital for Children in Houston. She brings a wealth of experience and a strong vision for our developing pediatric PM&R program. Welcome Dr. Bosques!
January 27, 2021, Filed Under: NewsOur Very Own Ambassador for Epilepsy Congratulations to Dr. Dave Clarke who will receive an Ambassador for Epilepsy Award from the International League Against Epilepsy/International Bureau for Epilepsy at the 2021 Congress. He was nominated for the award by the American Epilepsy Society. The award recognizes outstanding achievement in the international struggle against epilepsy. Recipients are chosen by the Joint Executive Committee of ILAE/IBE through a rigorous voting process every two years. Ambassador awards recognize individuals who have made outstanding contributions to activities advancing the cause of epilepsy, either internationally or with international impact. October 26, 2020, Filed Under: NewsAll Together: Pediatric Specialty Pavilion Underway Groundbreaking, Topped Out, and Planned Completion April 2021 By mid-April 2021, the new Pediatric Specialty Pavilion at Dell Children’s will be open and home to the Dell Medical School Pediatric Neurosciences at Dell Children’s program. This new facility, adjacent to Dell Children’s, will provide 40,000 square feet for our program and will house all pediatric neurology, neuropsychology, and neurosurgery faculty, residents, and fellows, as well as our program’s nurse practitioners and our main outpatient clinic space. Additionally, the new facility will provide outpatient eye lanes for pediatric neuro-ophthalmology. For the first time, we will all be together!

Don’t worry — we all call him Dr. Veda. He is a professor in the Department of Neurology and was previously Professor of Pediatrics and Neurology at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, where he also served as Director of the Division of Neuromuscular Medicine and oversaw the Electromyography and Autonomic Laboratory.Veda completed his child neurology residency at Duke University, and then went on to complete a neuromuscular disease fellowship at Johns Hopkins University. His clinical focus includes nerve and muscle disorders, like spinal muscular atrophy and muscular dystrophy, as well as dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system.Welcome to Texas, Dr. Veda!

The CNS is an academic society of more than 2000 child neurologists in the United States and Canada. The CNS previously awarded Dr. Brumback its prestigious Philip R. Dodge Young Investigator Award to support her research on expanding our understanding of autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders. Yay, Audrey!

Dr. Louisa Keith recently joined the pediatric neurology faculty at Dell Medical School from Boston Children’s Hospital. Keith received her undergraduate degree from Harvard University and her medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia. She completed her Pediatric Residency at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and her Child Neurology Residency at Boston Children’s Hospital. Dr. Keith oversees the cardiac surgery neurological follow-up program at Dell Children’s.

A Texas native, Dr. Freedman received his undergraduate degree from Duke University and his medical degree from Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in Ft. Worth. He completed his pediatric and child neurology residencies at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, in Columbus, Ohio, where he also completed a fellowship in pediatric epilepsy management. His clinical interests include epilepsy in children and somatoform disorders.
