Frequently Asked Questions

What grade level is appropriate for the audience? Physics Circus shows are best for grades K-5, though we occasionally do shows for middle schools with some adjustments. All ages (including adults) will enjoy the show, but elementary-schoolers will learn the most from it.

How many students can see a show? We can present a show for between 100-300 students, depending on your facilities. School gymnasiums and auditoriums typically make good venues. If you have more significantly more than 300 kids, we prefer to split it up into two back-to-back shows.

Can you present at our school’s STEM night, or other evening event?
Generally, no. Past experience has shown this to be an inefficient use of our resources. However, we would love to present at your school during regular school hours!

Do you perform at Science Fairs, or similar events?
As a rule, no. Experience with these events has let us know that they are an inefficient uses of our resources. Venues that involve students coming and going, or significant background noise or distractions take away from the presentation. However, we’d love to come visit for a dedicated show!

How do we prepare for a Physics Circus show?
Please provide two banquet tables for the demonstrations. If we are not performing on an elevated stage, please set the room up so that we are near an electrical outlet and there is at least ten feet of space between the tables and the audience.

How much does it cost?
We are fully funded by The University of Texas Physics Department. We will travel to your school at absolutely no cost to you!

May I use your photos/videos?
Host schools and organizations are welcome to use our media to generate interest in an upcoming show.

Will you present on weekends, during the summer, or other times not listed on your calendar?
We can’t guarantee it, but if you send us a request we will see what we can do!
