JUMP is a program designed to provide support to recently immigrated Latinx hig
h school students in the Austin area through a mentor-mentee system. JUMP volunteers go into the high schools during lunch time to discuss a certain topic that may not be well-known by the student. The topics discussed can be anything from how to fill out a college application, how to complete FAFSA, to just having a conversation to practice learning English. JUMP was inspired by the JUNTOS Familia, another project done in Project JUNTOS. JUMP is a way to build community, foster relationships, and prepare Latinx students for higher education.
The goal for JUMP is to have a long lasting impact on the lives of the students in the Austin area. A short conversation can go a long way and our hope is that we can help their overall well-being.
