Blanton Art Museum, January 14, 2025 – Kathy, Richard, Sonia, Lydia, Carole, Sherry, Robin and Miles learned a lot from docent Laraine Lasdon, despite the construction noise going on in the building!
Come From Away, January 4, 2025. Kevin Tuerff, former UT student, was returning from Europe on 9/11/2001 when U.S. airspace was closed and his jet was diverted to Gander, Newfoundland, along with thousands of other travelers. His experience inspired him to create the non-profit “Pay It Forward 9/11” in 2002, an annual kindness initiative which is celebrated internationally. The true stories of Kevin and other travelers and residents became the hit musical “Come From Away”, which has played on Broadway and around the world. On January 4, 2025, RFSA members were invited to the first annual performance of “Come From Away” and fundraiser for “Pay it Forward 9/11”.
11/19/2024: Ansel Adams Exhibit at HRC, with docent-led tour by Laraine Lasdon. Thanks to Miles Abernathy for the wonderful black and white photos (respecting Ansel Adams).
4/23/2024: Wildflower Center visit – only three people showed up (Holly, Hillary and John), but we had a blast! Athena the owl scowled at us, we played with caterpillars and saw lots of plants! Poetry, music, food… what a wonderful way to spend an evening.
