Linda McCoy, “The Austin HIPstorian,” is a local history buff and community storyteller based in Tarrytown, with a passion for uncovering the people and stories that shaped Austin’s neighborhoods. In this engaging presentation, Linda explores the early history of the area – from the Walsh family and their lime works to the dramatic 1900 dam failure – while connecting these events to the streets, landmarks and community we know today. Through maps, images, and carefully researched details, Linda brings the past to life in a way that is both informative and deeply connected to Austin’s history.
