“The Great Texas Solar Eclipse of April 8, 2024” by Dr. Phillip Kelton. Dr. Kelton is a UT McDonald Observatory retiree and RFSA member. Total solar eclipses are awesome natural events, and this should be one of the best. Dr. Kelton received his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Astronomy from the University of Texas at Austin in 1979. He had a 32-year career with McDonald Observatory during which he was a Programmer, Computing System Manager, Assistant Director, and Superintendent. He also has had a long involvement in amateur astronomy and public outreach, as a National Park astronomy volunteer, for McDonald, and with several different amateur societies, and has done many public outreach talks on various aspects of astronomy.
