As of July 2020 SAGAR is currently in hiatus and not accepting new submissions.

SAGAR has published 26 volumes of innovative academic writing in the humanities and social sciences of South Asia, as well as critical translations of texts from South Asian languages to English. All volumes are available through the Texas ScholarWorks repository at UT Libraries. The journal was established in 1993 and was published in both online and print formats from its inception by graduate student editors through the South Asia Institute at the University of Texas at Austin.
