MAJOR
The requirements for a major in Asian Cultures & Languages: Sanskrit are (full details):
24 semester hours including at least 21 hours of upper-division coursework:
- 9 hours upper-division Sanskrit
- 15 hours (including 12 upper-division) additional Asian Studies coursework related to South Asia, which may include up to 3 hours of upper-division coursework in Bengali, Malayalam, Sanskrit, or Tamil. See the Area List page for a list of approved courses for this requirement.
MINOR
The requirements for the Sanskrit minor are:
19 semester credits of Sanskrit coursework (at least 8 credits in residence) which must include at least 3 hours upper-division coursework. Credit-by-exam is available for lower-division courses for qualified students, but still subject to in-residence minimums. Typically, the requirements will include:
- SAN 506 First-Year Sanskrit I
- SAN 507 First-Year Sanskrit II
- SAN 312K Second-Year Sanskrit I
- SAN 312L Second-Year Sanskrit II
- Three semester credit hours upper-division Sanskrit (SAN 330 or equivalent)
