Seminars on Buddhist Manuscriptology by Dr. Jens Braarvig (University of Oslo, Norway). Nov. 7 and 12, 2012, Meyerson Conference Room, WCH 4.118, UT Austin Campus.
In these two workshop-style seminars for graduate students and faculty, Jens Braarvig introduced methods and challenges of reading and editing ancient Buddhist manuscripts. Braarvig is the editor of several volumes of Buddhist Manuscripts in the Schøyen Collection. Those manuscripts, which were found in modern-day Afghanistan and Pakistan, shed new light on the history and development of Buddhism in ancient India.
