Our group’s research interests lie in the field of bio-mediated soil processes and sustainable geotechnical engineering practices. We combine fundamental investigations of microbial processes involved in the formation of calcium carbonate by bacteria, with the characterisation and physical modeling of bio-geotechnical systems, to further our understanding of the relationship between mineral microstructure and the engineering response of carbonate-cemented soils.
