Andrew Luck Calf Strain

Colts Quarterback, Andrew Luck’s status for Week 1 is unknown due to an ongoing calf problem and a newly reported ankle issue. Luck has a calf strain that has bothered him since April. He missed some of training camp.

While dealing with the ongoing calf muscle strain, no details are provided about the ankle.

Due to multiple serious injuries over the course of just a few seasons, Luck has decided to retire from the NFL.

Jeff McNeil Hamstring Injury

On August 14, American baseball infielder and outfielder Jeff McNeil injured his left hamstring in a game against the Braves. The injury happened when McNeil sprinted towards the first base in an attempt to make an infield single.  An MRI–which would not typically be obtained for this type of injury–revealed a mild hamstring strain, an injury for which he missed 12 games in May and June. It’s safe to play with a muscle strain. People usually return when they are comfortable enough to be effective. They complete healing over a full year.

Willson Contreras Hamstring Strain

On August 5, the Chicago Cubs’ catcher Willson Contreras injured his right hamstring while running to first base after hitting a flyball. After taking several steps, he grabbed the back of his right leg and limped and hopped the rest of the way toward first base. An MRI was performed, something that is not likely to help with management and something that would not be considered for most hamstring injuries.  The Cubs estimated Contreras will miss four weeks.
