During the 2022-2025 grant years, STEP UP Texas funded 19 full-time Training & Technical Assistance Professionals (TTAPs) through nine place-based subcontracts to provide in-person training and support in 11 Texas counties as well as to law enforcement officers and Child Protective Services statewide. In all, 31 Texas counties participated in STEP UP Texas activities.
During that time, the TTAPs conducted 748 trainings in trauma-informed and restorative practices to 11,748 participants working in school districts, law enforcement, and the juvenile justice system. In addition, they provided 6,066 technical assists to 225,740 participants to support them as they implement the practices within their organizations.
STEP UP TEXAS IN 2026 AND BEYOND. STEP UP Texas continues to provide free training and technical assistance to personnel working in school districts, law enforcement, and the juvenile justice system. Given a new funding structure, the project now houses five staff members and has shifted a majority of its training and technical assistance offerings to on-line, with both pre-recorded and live options. STEP UP Texas services are open to all Texas counties.
