Meet the 2019 recipient of the Ruta Maya Coffee Company scholarship and participant of the Bridging Cultures in Latin America Maymester!
Alex De La Cruz was selected as the recipient of the 2019 Ruta Maya Coffee Scholarship, which made it possible for him to participate in the 2019 Bridging Cultures in Latin America Maymester study abroad program in Guatemala and Belize. Alex is a first generation Latinx college student and is currently studying Urban Studies at UT. He loves coffee, but also has a soft spot for atol 🙂 Thanks to the generous support of Ruta Maya, Alex was able to travel to Guatemala and Belize in June to experience and learn from the rich cultural traditions, places, and people of the region.
