One of our researchers, Dr. Whitney Arey, spoke with Mary Tuma about the dangers of abortion bans: “What we have seen in Texas could very well be a preview of what we will see elsewhere. These narrow exceptions in abortion bans create a climate of fear for providers, which will be really dangerous for some of the most vulnerable patients and put many lives at risk.”
The article explains that doctors are scared to provide patients adequate care for fear that they will break the law and potentially lose their license to practice or spend life in prison. This puts many pregnant people at risk for illnesses that they may not fully recover from.
