“Poorest Texans Pay Steepest Price as Medicaid Shuns Planned Parenthood,” Op-Ed

TxPEP lead investigator Dr. Kari White has published an op-ed in the Austin American-Statesman, “Poorest Texans Pay Steepest Price as Medicaid Shuns Planned Parenthood.”

The op-ed examines the state’s recent executive action to exclude Planned Parenthood affiliates from participating in Medicaid. Dr. White argues that, as was seen in 2011, women’s health will suffer from the exclusion. 

She writes, “Texas policymakers should be diligently working to shore up the reproductive health care safety net rather than creating unnecessary barriers to care and forcing patients to navigate an already fragmented health care system.”
