OUR TEAM

E. Ciszek, Ph.D. (They/Them)
Associate Professor
Stan Richards School of Advertising & Public Relations
University of Texas at Austin

E.’s work and commitments are centered on power and identity, with a particular focus on the role of communication in social change. Their research engages dialogically with groups that are historically marginalized, using tools like queer theory to overcome the constraints of conventional methods of scientific inquiry that position identities as fixed demographic categories that are based on binary conceptions of identity. E.’s work explores how communities challenge power imbalances and provide practical implications for allies who want to advocate on behalf of marginalized groups.

Kasey Faust, PhD. (She/Her)
Associate Professor
Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering
University of Texas at Austin

The provision of water is threatened by aging and decaying water infrastructure systems (WIS), insufficient access, lack of funding for capital projects, workforce constraints, and exposure to frequent and severe hazards. To address these urgent challenges, Kasey studies WIS through a sociotechnical systems lens to improve the delivery of safe and reliable water services. Her work advances our understanding of WIS resiliency and proposes novel physical, managerial, and operational solutions.
