The Mogai, who evolved on the planet Hamestegan, are considered among the most intelligent races within the Third Republic’s domain, often rising to the ranks of commanders and senior managers across various worlds. Their intelligence, organization, and management skills are unparalleled, and they are known for their incorruptibility and steadfast will and beliefs. They are relatively small and agile, with a maximum height of about one and a half meters. Short spikes grow on their wrinkled, purple skulls, which they occasionally trim. They have three large eyes with vertical, glowing pupils. At birth, Mogai have pink skin that gradually darkens with age, developing green spots, allowing one to estimate their age by looking at their bare heads.
Mogai have slim, slender bodies that are covered with a tight-fitting garment, concealing everything but their heads. Their veins are located outside their dense body tissues, meaning the scaly skin of the Mogai is surrounded by a network of pulsating, semi-transparent tubes. Their traditional loose, long clothing is used to hide these veins, as they believe the sight of their yellow, gas-like blood moving through the thin walls of these veins is shameful and ugly.
Mogai society is hierarchical, with very complex customs and rules that only they fully understand. They are tolerant of other species’ taboos and non-compliance with their customs, making their society welcoming to representatives from various cosmic races. Their large, multicultural cities have been the main setting for the formation of the Fourth Cosmic Republic, gradually elevating Mogai statesmen to the level of bureaucrats who manage affairs on a cosmic scale.
Mogai possess a distinct and cohesive personal identity, with each having their own goals, purposes, and values. This results in significant cultural and ideological diversity among them. Despite this, they are fiercely loyal to their race, responding to any harm done to a fellow Mogai with swift and decisive vengeance. Mogai excel in identifying and predicting the behavior of others, making them exceptionally effective in managerial positions. There is evidence that many Mogai, driven by personal ideals, have founded various mysterious intellectual, political, and secret sects throughout the cosmos.
Etymology: The name “Mogai” is derived from the word “Magus.” (ibid)
