Welcome to Zhu Power Electronics Research Group at The University of Texas at Austin!
We are actively seeking 2–3 highly motivated Ph.D. students to join our group in Fall 2026! Click here for details on how to apply.
Power electronics enables the efficient conversion and control of electrical energy and serves as a key driver of technological advancements across a wide range of applications.
Our group explores a hybrid switched-capacitor (SC) approach to power electronic system design, which offers unparalleled opportunities for converter miniaturization and performance improvement. One of our primary research focuses is the development of innovative power delivery solutions for high-performance AI processors—spanning both discrete and integrated levels—through improved circuit topologies, novel magnetic designs, advanced control techniques, cutting-edge integration and packaging technologies, and electrothermal co-optimization.
We work at the intersection of power, circuits, control, packaging, integration, and more, tackling challenging problems where high-performance power electronic systems are essential to achieving higher efficiency, smaller size, lower weight, faster response, reduced cost, and improved reliability.
Through innovative academic research, we strive to drive strategic technological progress and contribute to a more sustainable future.
