I began volunteering with the Gore Lab in the spring of 2013 as an undergraduate. I worked with Alexandra Garcia and Dr. Weiling Yin to study the effects of estradiol on an ovariectimized rat model of menopause. My specific interests in this research have been the effects of hormone treatment on mammary tumorigenesis, as well as social and anxiety behaviors. After graduating with a B.S. in Psychology in the fall of 2013 I continued working with the Gore Lab. My work extended to the TIME project with Lindsay Thompson. This project studies the transgenerational effects of polychlorinated biphenyls, an endocrine disrupting chemical. Outside of my work with the Gore Lab I am currently volunteering at Dell Children’s Medical Center as a Child Life Assistant in the Emergency Department. I am also an active member with the Pre-Physician Assistant Society as well as a peer group leader in Peer-Led Undergraduate Studies in Microscopic and Gross Human Anatomy. As a post-baccalaureate I am continuing my education in order to reach my goal of becoming a Physician Assistant.
