Journalism and PR Internships in DC this Summer

How will you spend your time this summer?

Did you know that you still have time to secure a journalism or public relations internship this summer in Washington, D.C?

The Institute on Political Journalism (IPJ) offers you an opportunity to experience the exciting worlds of journalism and public relations in our nation’s capital.

This summer’s IPJ application deadline has been extended to March 25, 2010 with scholarship funding available. You still have the opportunity to be placed in an internship that can launch your career and give you a competitive edge after graduation.

Here’s what you could be doing this summer at your internship:

  • Attend press conferences and briefings on Capitol Hill
  • Put the finishing touches on a strategic ad campaign for a client lobbying Congress.
  • Work with a team of investigative reporters on breaking news stories from the Pentagon
  • Write a press release and make pitch calls to local media outlets for and advocacy organization.
  • Research and write a report on an important policy issue related to the health care debates
  • Edit video and audio sound bites for television or radio news outlets
  • Conduct “man on the street” interviews on the national mall for the evening news
  • Learn the steps to take in crisis management for a client

About the Program
Sponsored by The Fund for American Studies in partnership with Georgetown University, IPJ is an eight-week academic internship program held in Washington, D.C. for undergraduate students interested in journalism and both corporate and advocacy public relations. The Institute combines substantive professional experience for 35 hours a week with a challenging academic experience worth 6 credit hours from Georgetown University. All students are housed on campus in apartment-style dorms.
