Texas Career Engagement is excited to announce that we are now accepting applications for the Summer 2024 TCE Internship Fund! Our goal is to reduce financial barriers to internship participation. Students in an eligible unpaid internship can receive funding of $20 per hour up to a maximum amount of $2,400 (based on the number of internship hours they work during Summer 2024).

2024-25 UEPS Application Open in LASSO

We are happy to announce that the University Endowed Presidential Scholarship (UEPS) application is now open in LASSO! The University Endowed Presidential Scholarship (UEPS) program was created in 1973 to provide scholarships to outstanding juniors and seniors at The University of Texas at Austin. We expect to make over 250 awards for 2024-25. Most UEPS awardees must be a junior or senior by Fall 2024, have a GPA of at least 3.75, and must have completed at least 45 hours in residence at UT Austin, but there are some awards that do not have these requirements. Recipients should enroll full-time in the 2024-25 academic year.

To be considered, please log in to LASSO and submit the OSFA – University-wide Endowed Presidential Scholarship Application by March 25, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. CDT.

Study Abroad Scholarship Opportunity!

This spring, the Senate of College Councils Academic Enrichment Committee will be awarding three $1,000 Study Abroad Scholarships to qualified UT students! Eligible applicants must be an undergraduate or graduate student at UT Austin currently accepted into an accredited Maymester or Summer 2024 program.

 

Additionally, applicants must have (1) completed two semesters or be currently enrolled in their 2nd semester, (2) have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 and (3) be in good academic standing. The application is due on Sunday, March 3rd at 11 PM CST. 2022 Student Writing Flag Awards

The deadline is approaching for the School of Undergraduate Studies Writing Flag Award, honoring the best writing produced by UT undergraduates in courses carrying the Writing Flag. Students must submit their work by 11:59 p.m. on Monday, December 12, 2022, to be eligible for prizes of up to $300, awarded in three categories — Research, Persuasive/Critical, and Creative/Reflective. In each of these categories, the Writing Flag Awards will recognize student writing that best demonstrates clarity, inventiveness and intellectual rigor.

Eligible works must be written by an undergraduate student and submitted for credit in a UT Austin Writing Flag class in the Spring, Summer or Fall semester of 2022. Collaboratively written entries are allowed in all categories.

Aggarwal Endowed Presidential Scholarship in Indian Studies for Undergraduates

UT Austin’s South Asia Institute invites undergraduate students to apply for the scholarship below.

2023 Aggarwal Endowed Presidential Scholarship in Indian Studies for Undergraduates

SAI encourages undergraduate students who are currentlyjuniors and seniors to apply for the Aggarwal Endowed Presidential Scholarship in Indian Studies for Undergraduates. The scholarship amount varies, with a maximum award of $3,000. The application deadline is December 16, 2022.

Administered by the South Asia Institute, the Aggarwal Endowed Presidential Scholarship in Indian Studies was established by the Board of Regents of The University of Texas System on March 11, 2010, for the benefit of the College of Liberal Arts. Gift funds were provided by J.K. Aggarwal, Ph.D. of Austin, TX and Shanti J. Aggarwal, Ph.D. of Austin, TX.

Eligibility:

  • Must have at least 45 hours in residence
  • Must be a junior or senior undergraduate during academic year 2022-23
  • Must have overall GPA of at least 3.6
  • Must be enrolled full time (at least 12, preferably 15 hours) in both the fall and spring semesters of the following academic year (during the tenure of the award)

How to Apply

Interested students who meet the eligibility requirements can apply for this scholarship by submitting the following materials to the South Asia Institute to sai@austin.utexas.edu:

  • Academic Summary (from Registrar’s Office) or informal UT Transcript.
  • one letter of recommendation from a faculty member.
  • one-page personal statement (350 words or less) that addresses one’s interest in India and future plans for the study of Indian languages and/or India studies at UT and beyond.

 Please Note: If you are applying for the Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowship we will accept your two FLAS recommendation letters to apply for the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Scholarship!

Critical Language Scholarship

Any undergraduate or graduate students who are 18+ and are U.S. Citizens or Nationals are eligible to apply for the program. Program costs for the summer are funded by the U.S. government. 

The Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program is an intensive overseas language and cultural immersion group-based program for American students enrolled at U.S. colleges and universities. Students spend eight to ten weeks abroad studying one of 14 critical languages. The program includes intensive language instruction and structured cultural enrichment experiences designed to promote rapid language gains. https://clscholarship.org/

Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Scholarship

In honor of Mahatma Gandhi, an annual scholarship of $500 will be awarded to two undergraduate students at The University of Texas at Austin based on academic excellence and dedication to the study of India.

The following are the guidelines for application:

  1. To be eligible a student must have taken a minimum of nine semester credit hours in courses relating directly to India and/or a minimum of two semesters of an Indian language.
  2. Students must submit with the application an informal transcript of their undergraduate work and two letters of recommendation from professors who are familiar with the applicant’s work in the area of Indian Studies. Letters can be sent tosai@austin.utexas.edu.

Application deadline (including letters of recommendation) is December 16, 2022 and forms are available to download.

Liberal Arts Honors Study Abroad Scholarships

The Liberal Arts Honors Program will award scholarships in varying amounts to support LAH students and Humanities majors who will be studying abroad in the Spring, Summer, and/or Fall.  An LAH student may apply for this scholarship by writing a one-page statement of his or her study abroad plans. The statement should include where and what the student will be studying, the projected cost involved, and the role that study abroad and the mastery of a foreign language plays in the student’s academic and career goals.

Now is the time to apply for Liberal Arts Honors Study Abroad Scholarships! Deadlines are:

5:00 pm November 15 for Spring.

5:00 pm March 15 for Fall and Summer.

Please submit your application online through the study abroad online scholarship application, Global Assist, and select “Get Started”. The website will prompt you to set up an online profile and show you a list of scholarships which criteria you meet. If you are applying for a study abroad program not affiliated with UT, please enter program code 300999.

Both LAH students and Humanities majors are eligible to apply for the LAH Study Abroad scholarship. Please contact the LAH office with any questions.
