Texas Blazers Accepting Applications

Texas Blazers, an on-campus men’s service organization, is currently taking applicants for their Fall 2010 class.  Since 1994, Blazers have worked to provide outstanding service to our campus and community, a strong sense of spirit for our school, and a bond of brotherhood among our members. Through the years, Blazers have maintained these ideals through many avenues. We tutor and mentor high school students at a local area school; host official campus events and hold mixers and formals with various female spirit groups.

Next week we will host an information session to give prospective members an opportunity to learn more about our organization. The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, September 9th at 4 pm in the Texas Governor’s Room in the Texas Union. We will be hosting another info session on Thursday, September 16th at 5 p.m. in UNB 4.224 (also in the Union).  We recommend that you attend one of these info sessions if you are considering joining.

We’ll also be holding a service project Sunday, September 12th and a mixer Friday, September 17th.  If you’d like more specific information on these events, please email me at dan.leyendecker@gmail.com.

In order to be considered for membership, you must have an overall GPA above 3.0, have completed at least two semesters at UT, and have at least two semesters remaining here. We look for students who have demonstrated an aptitude for service, strong leadership, and a love of our university. Applications are due Tuesday, September 21st by 5:00 P.M. They can be turned in either in person on the 4th floor of the SSB (SOC Box #78) or to dan.leyendecker@gmail.com.

To download the application, please see our website at www.texasblazers.com . Also, feel free to email me with any questions or concerns you may have at the address above.
