Live. Learn. Intern. Priority Deadline February 10

The priority deadline for the Summer 2014 LIVE. LEARN. INTERN. programs in Washington, DC is coming up on February 10. The final application deadline is March 18. Please pass the announcement below to students in your honors programs who may be interested in spending a summer interning and earning credit in the nation’s capital.

Students will earn up to 9 credits and are guaranteed an internship in the fields of public policy, international affairs, journalism, communication, business, or the nonprofit sector. More information on our programs may also be found online at www.DCinternships.org.

Students will be accepted on a rolling basis until the final deadline of March 18, 2014. Applicants are encouraged to apply for the priority deadline of February 10, 2014 in order to receive preference in admissions and scholarship consideration, as well as internship placement. Please include your status as an honors student within your application materials in order to receive priority admissions and scholarship consideration. Over 70% of students receive scholarship awards on the basis of financial need and merit.

Liberal Arts students are invited to attend the McCombs Undergraduate Career Expo on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 from 3:00 – 5:00 PM. If you plan to attend, are you ready?

Attend our prep workshop on 1/23 to learn how you can best prepare in advance; what to wear; what works and doesn’t work; and what employers are really looking for.

Business Professional Attire Required for Entry: Matching suit required (dark blue, dark grey, or black), professional footwear, no bright or neon hair color, no visible facial piercings and all men must wear ties. UT ID Card Required for Entry: The career expo will be open to all current UT Austin students, including Liberal Arts majors, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. No alumni will be permitted.

Joynes Reading Room JOB Opening for LAH student

Are you interested in working in the Joynes Reading Room?  Matt Valentine is looking for a LAH students who is available Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 1:45 pm to 3:30 p.m. You can work other shifts, but that shift will be required for the position.

Pay is at least $8.50/hour but could be higher for students with relevant experience. Interested students can leave a resume and a schedule showing their seven-day availability in Matt Valentine’s mailbox  in the Plan II Office or at the front desk of the Joynes Reading Room.

Please join us for a special performance of Puccini’s Tosca presented by The Austin Lyric Opera. The story of Tosca centers around three characters enmeshed by rebellion, desire, and deception. Considered one of opera’s most riveting dramas, Tosca will keep viewers on the edge of their seats until its deadly climax.
